Purpose of the Role The Test Software Engineer (IT Test Manager) is responsible for end-to-end ownership of testing governance, quality assurance standards, and delivery of testing outcomes across IT projects. The role ensures fit-for-purpose testing practices, drives continuous improvement, and champions quality across the organization.Key Responsibilities Test Strategy & Governance
- Develop and implement an enterprise-wide testing strategy aligned to project size and complexity
- Define and maintain testing frameworks, standards, and QA processes
- Establish and execute a fit-for-purpose automation testing strategy
- Ensure consistent testing governance across the IT portfolio
Test Delivery & Quality Assurance
- Oversee test planning, execution, reporting, and defect management
- Evaluate business and technical requirements for testability and quality
- Identify testing risks and define mitigation strategies
- Ensure adequate test coverage, environment readiness, and tool effectiveness
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Produce KPI, risk, and status reports for leadership
- Define reporting standards to provide transparency on testing progress
- Drive continuous improvement in testing practices, tools, and methodologies
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Define and manage vendor testing engagement guidelines
- Review vendor contracts to ensure quality assurance compliance
- Collaborate with business users, project teams, and IT leadership
- Participate in Change Advisory Boards to ensure delivery quality
Compliance & Audit
- Support internal and external audits related to testing activities
- Ensure testing aligns with organisational and regulatory standards
Decision-Making Authority
- Define testing approaches and automation tools across the IT landscape
- Determine appropriate levels of testing based on project scope
- Approve testing frameworks, standards, and methodologies
- Assess risks and implement quality improvement initiatives
