Workday Payroll Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for highly skilled Workday Payroll Engineers with deep expertise in the Payroll module. This is a critical and time-sensitive hiring need for the client. 

The ideal candidates will have proven experience supporting payroll transformations, including migrating clients from one payroll cadence to another (e.g., weekly to biweekly, monthly to semi-monthly), while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and smooth transition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end configuration, testing, and deployment of Workday Payroll solutions.
  • Design and implement payroll processes in alignment with business requirements and compliance needs.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to analyze current payroll cadences and drive successful transitions to new schedules.
  • Troubleshoot payroll discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement sustainable fixes.
  • Provide production support, resolve payroll-related issues, and ensure timely payroll runs.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (HR, Finance, IT) to integrate payroll processes with broader Workday HCM.
  • Document payroll processes, change requests, and configurations.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of hands-on Workday Payroll experience.
  • Strong expertise in Workday Payroll module configuration and operations.
  • Proven track record of managing payroll cadence changes (e.g., shifting employees from weekly to biweekly or other schedules).
  • Deep understanding of payroll module, taxation, and reporting.
  • Solid experience with payroll parallel testing, data validation, and cutover planning.
  • Ability to engage directly with clients, gather requirements, and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
